Echoes of the Rain

Fourteen-year-old Alex Harris leads a privileged life, large house, private school and numerous holidays abroad each year. That is until his father makes a bad decision at work leading to his arrest and the collapse of the family. With their home and assets seized and his mother relying on alcohol to get her through the day, Alex is taken into care and when put into a children’s home with an abusive member of staff he escapes to begin his life on the streets.
Drug dealers, violent gangs, hunger and cold are just a few of the terrors that await Alex as he fights for survival in this hostile environment.
Is there anyone who cares, and how could this happen to someone like him?
Based on a true story, ‘Echoes of the Rain’ makes the reader question the failings within our society.
